Jessica's artistic journey began in the rural landscapes of northwestern Pennsylvania, where she spent her youth drawing and painting. She later formalized her training at the Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. It was during her undergraduate studies that Jessica discovered her passion for watercolor. Under the mentorship of several professional watercolorists, she adopted the medium as her primary focus.
Driven by a desire for new horizons, Jessica moved West shortly after graduation. Captivated by the 'big skies' and mountain ranges, she found her permanent home in Western Montana. She and her husband spend time immersed in the landscapes of the Rockies—on exploratory hikes to discover native plants and wildflowers, and forage for fungi and berries, fly-fishing the numerous rivers and lakes, and taking the road less traveled to fuel her inspiration. Jessica holds signature membership with the Montana Watercolor Society. She exhibits her award-winning work in shows at the Glacier Art Museum and other National juried shows.

Raised amidst the quiet communities of rural America, I developed a reverence for the historic architecture that stands steadfast against the passage of time. These structures—functional in purpose yet remarkable in their craftsmanship and design—have become relics of aesthetic dialogues between our ancestors and the land they inhabited. Since moving to Montana I’ve carved my own identity from the region, finding constant inspiration from the storied iconography of the West, and the native flora and fauna of the natural world.
Detailed surface textures often play an integral part in my work. I am particularly fond of the simple, elegant interaction of water and pigment—which allows me to achieve
a level of controlled detail that defines my signature realistic
style. Recently I have been combining my love of Montana history with my art form, using antique paper ephemera foraged from antique stores and estate sales, to create contemporary works celebrating nostalgia and the inspiring characters in our lives, past and present.
In my work, I focus not only on the unique physical attributes of my subject matter, but also what story they have to tell. Viewers will hopefully share in the sense of discovery that inspires me on my artist's journey. Join me in celebrating what richness art brings to our everyday lives.
